The airport's airline terminal is named for U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt.
Mr. Blunt represented the state of Missouri as both a U.S. representative and U.S. senator. During his time in Congress he was a tireless advocate for Missouri's transportation needs, including Springfield-Branson National Airport. He secured major federal funding for the airport's airline terminal which opened in 2009. Additionally, he secured funds for several runway and taxiway projects.
In February 2022 Mr. Blunt announced his retirement from Congress. To honor his legacy of public service, the city of Springfield officially named the terminal the Roy Blunt Terminal on December 16, 2022.
